The Lower Minnesota River Watershed District values the voices of its residents. The Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) exists to bring forward ideas and respond to concerns from people served in the community.

The Lower Minnesota River Watershed District (LMRWD) is looking for people to support the watershed district in its mission to manage, restore, and protect the Minnesota River, lakes streams, wetlands and groundwater and to assist in providing river navigation.

The Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) is a group of volunteers with a shared commitment to the environment and water quality. They come with a variety of talents and educational backgrounds and help to further common goals in their community. Members provide guidance on which issues are most important to them, and how the LMRWD can continually improve its programs.

The  Lower Minnesota River Watershed District CAC meets monthly.  Responsibilities include:

  • Learning about District programs and initiatives.
  • Reviewing the District’s annual work program as it relates to the Management Plan.
  • Supporting our education goals with activities such as promoting the LMRWD at community events, finding guest speakers and organizing activities.
  • Reviewing District plans, studies and projects.
  • Assisting staff in public education, outreach and information activities.
  • Developing community contacts and methods to understand local attitudes, values and concerns about water management issues.
  • Displaying respect for the ideas of others in meetings and while representing the District in the community.

CAC Members are appointed by the Board of Managers to serve one-year terms.  For more information visit the CAC page on the LMRWD website. If you are interested in joining the CAC you can complete an application.
