The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency recently released a series of reports, studies and plans addressing water contamination in the Minnesota River, the biggest tributary to the Mississippi in our state. It looks like the river is in need of some big changes if we're to meet our state's water quality goals.

......And in the Lower Minnesota River Watershed District?

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts that communities in the Lower Minnesota River Watershed District may be at a higher-than-normal risk of spring flooding.

The LMRWD submits the draft Watershed Management Plan Amendment to the Board of Soil and Water Resource for final 90-day review.

This Statement of Need and Reasonableness (SONAR) presents background on, technical support for, and an explanation of the following standards proposed to be adopted by amendment to the Lower Minnesota River Watershed District’s (District) Watershed Management Plan (WMP or Plan). This SONAR does not address standards contained in the current WMP that will be unchanged or clarified by the amendment.
