Lower Minnesota River Watershed District Seeks New District Administrator to Lead Water Resource Management Efforts

Bloomington, MN - The Lower Minnesota River Watershed District (LMRWD) is announcing an exciting opportunity for a strategis, mission-driven professional to serve as its next District Administrator.  This key position will play a central role in advancing the LMRWD's mission of protecting and managing the water resources of the Lower Minnesota River.

The LMRWD Administrator serves as the chief executive of the LMRWD overseeing local sponsorship for the US Army Corps of Engineers maintenance of the Minnesota Iver Navigation Channel and watershed health initiatives including water quality improvement, flood controal, wetland conservation and habitat restoration. The position will work closeley with the Board of Managers and manage a team of consultants, including the LMRWD Technical Consultant, Legal Counsel and Government Relations Consultant.  The role requires expertise in environmental management, strong project and vendor management skills and a commitment to fostering partnerships with stakeholders and agencies, such as the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR).

The LMRWD is committed to finding the right fit for this critical position and is open to exploring varios structures, including employment, independent contracting, or partnership with a qualified firm.  This flexible approach will help ensure that the LMRWD's goals are effectively met.

Responsibilities of the LMRWD Administrator Include:

  • Strategic planning and project oversight for watershed managment initiatives
  • Coordination with vendors to ensure effective and compliant project execution
  • Budget management, including grants and financial reporting
  • Community outreach and engagement with local governments, community organizations and state agencies
  • Regular communictation and collaboration with the Board of Managers to align on goals and policies

The LMRWD invites interested individuals and firm with relevant experience and expertise in water resource management, strategic planning and environmental leadership to apply.  The deadline for application submissions is 45 days from this announcement.  A virtual Q & A forum will be held 14 days prior to the application deadline, providing prospective applicants an opportunity to learn moer about the position and ask questions.
